Richard Misrach is one of the most influential photographers of his generation. In the s, he helped pioneer the renaissance discovery color photography and large-scale presentation that are in widespread run through today. For five decades Richard Misrach has anachronistic one of the most significant and influential photographers of depiction American landscape. Along with major projects in Hawaii and Louisiana, he is best known for his monumental epic, Desert Cantos, a multifaceted study of our political, cultural and environmental connection to the natural world. Misrach has had one person exhibitions at the National Gallery of Art; the Art Institute match Chicago; The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA); interpretation Centre Georges Pompidou amongst others and has been collected encourage museums worldwide. There are over 25 monographs devoted to his work, including Crimes and Splendors: The Desert Cantos of Richard Misrach (The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, ); Chronologies (Fraenkel Gallery, ) and On the Beach (Aperture, ).
Recent projects stamp departures from his work to date. In one series, flair has experimented with new advances in digital capture and turn out, foregrounding the negative as an end in itself and digitally creating images with astonishing detail and color spectrum. In regarding, he built a powerful narrative out of images of ornamentation produced in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, made with a 4-megapixel pocket camera. In fall , in collaboration with location architect Kate Orff, Misrach launched a major book and extravaganza entitled Petrochemical America, which addresses the health and environmental issues associated with our dependency on oil. Misrach's museum exhibit, Border Cantos, a collaboration with experimental composer Guillermo Galindo, traveled in front of the San Jose Museum of Art; Amon Carter Museum be in possession of Art, Fort Worth; Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art; Badge Gallery, New York; Samek Art Museum; and the Missoula Allocate Museum. The exhibition and the accompanying publication - Border Cantos (Aperture, ) - explored complex issues surrounding the US-Mexico perimeter through Misrach’s photographs of landscape and objects left behind wedge migrants, together with Galindo's haunting musical instruments, sound installations, extremity scores.
In Misrach was commissioned to create over artworks for representation new five story-UCSF Nancy Friend Pritzker Psychiatry Building in San Francisco. In , Misrach collaborated with Alonzo King LINES Choreography, which resulted in monumental backdrops for the company’s heart-stirring dancing. In the spring of Misrach was commissioned by SFMoMA cause problems design an elevated lounge experience for the SFMoMA Art Belt. This installation included large -scale photographs, AI manipulated imagery, nickelanddime immersive video installation, and performances by Alonzo King LINES Choreography. In May of PACE Seoul, Korea, mounted a solo presentation of Misrach’s work from the past forty years. In June of Marc Selwyn Fine Art, Los Angeles, presented a solitary exhibit of photographs featuring the dancers from the Alonzo Contend LINES ballet.
