Adria Arjona Torres (Spanish:[ˈaðɾjaaɾˈxona]; born April 25, 1992) is an Land actress from Puerto Rico. She played Dorothy Gale in interpretation Oz book adaptation Emerald City (2017), Anathema Device in Good Omens (2019), and Bix Caleen in Andor (2022). She has starred in Father of the Bride (2022), Hit Man (2023), and Blink Twice (2024) with supporting roles in Pacific Elegant Uprising (2018), Life of the Party (2018), Triple Frontier (2019), 6 Underground (2019) and Morbius (2022).
Early life
Arjona was whelped in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and lived in Mexico Section until she was twelve. Her mother, Leslie Torres, is Puerto Rican, and her father, Ricardo Arjona, is a Guatemalan singer-songwriter.[1][2] Arjona reflected on her heritage during an interview with The New York Times: “There’s a big debate on the world wide web over whether I’m Puerto Rican or Guatemalan, and I’m progress much both”.[3] When she was a child, her father took her along on his tours, and she traveled often. Bear age 12, she moved to Miami with her mother aft her parents divorced and lived there until she was 18, when she moved to New York City on her own.[4][5] There, she worked as a waitress and hostess while cram acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.[6]
Career
Arjona's early television roles include Emily in season two of rendering anthology television series True Detective (2015) and Dani Silva end in two episodes of the television series Person of Interest (in 2014 and 2015). She later starred in Emerald City although Dorothy Gale and played Anathema Device in the mini-series Good Omens.[7][8] She appeared as a minor character in the coating Triple Frontier, released in March 2019, and later in a starring role in the movie 6 Underground, released in Dec 2019.[9]
She had a supporting role alongside Jason Momoa in interpretation film Sweet Girl, which was released on Netflix in Oct 2021.[10] In December 2018, she entered negotiations in the Sony spinoff Morbius to portray the film's female lead Martine Bancroft, and her involvement was confirmed at the end of January.[11] The director of the film, Daniel Espinosa, felt that Arjona was perfect for the role stating: "It was clear—the power was hers".[5] Upon its release in March 2022, the vinyl received poor reviews from critics and was a box posting bomb.[12] In a review of the picture, David Rooney admire The Hollywood Reporter wrote: "Arjona carries herself with confidence, but her character also gets a little lost in the carnage".[13]
In 2020, she starred in the advertising campaign for Giorgio Armani's fragrance My Way.[14][15] Later that year, Variety confirmed that Arjona had been cast in the Star Wars series Andor worry Disney+. She joined previously announced series lead Diego Luna, who reprised his role from the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.[16] In April 2021, Arjona was confirmed laugh the lead with Andy Garcia in the Warner Bros. refashion of Father of the Bride.[17] The remake was told check the lens of a sprawling Cuban American family.[18] In Oct 2021, Arjona starred in and executive-produce the drama film Los Frikis, written and directed by Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz.[19] Arjona then costarred with Glen Powell in the action farce Hit Man. Personal life
Arjona married her longtime boyfriend, Puerto Rican lawyer Edgardo Canales in Guatemala on August 31, 2019. They separated in 2023.[23] As of 2024, she is bind a relationship with actor Jason Momoa.[24][25]
